Hare Krishna Dear Parents,
Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada.
It has been a great first term establishing a class culture, getting to know the new members of the class, growing together at camp and exploring all aspects of learning. I look forward to taking what I have learnt about the kids this term and creating a learning program that furthermore meets their needs for next term.
I hope the kids have a safe and happy holiday break. Your time is a valued asset in your child’s life. Any moment of connection shared learning something new, reading a book together, discussing ideas together, sharing a project together, all of these connections, go a long way to creating enthusiastic lifelong learners.
Each child should have their password and login details with them at home (if not, email me and I can forward this to you). Sit with your child and see what tasks they have to do on Mathletics. I have set each student tasks to work through according to their maths level. These are on the home page when they log in and to be worked through at their own pace. If you notice them doing maths that isn’t at what you think should be their level, guide them back to the home page where their set tasks are. I have set it so games don’t show up, but I think there is still access to a speed challenge which is very basic 5 + 3 etc!
In the last week of the term we had a lovely whole school trip to Long Bay. We were lucky to have great weather and the water was still warm too! Here are a few pictures from the sand sculpture competition in the afternoon. The children were in their house groups and had been given a picture of a sea animal to create a sand sculpture. Many of the younger students enthusiastically supported the task by bringing sand and shells and the older students from the Gaura Nitai class took on leadership roles to guide the overall process.
Many students presented their Inquiry Projects towards the end of the term. A few groups will also be presenting at the beginning of next term. Here are a few pics of Bella, Seerat and Sanchayeeta with their volcano project. They made a model volcano and demonstrated an impressive lava explosion. We captured it on video but unfortunately it was too big to upload here. Additionally they created an amazing book about volcanoes too!
I hope your Easter weekend is going well and you have enjoyed the sunshine between showers. Those of you who actually get the public holidays off (I hope all of you!) enjoy Monday as well!
