This week the students have been starting to set their personal goals. We learnt what a SMART goal is and students have set themselves a two week goal to improve something of their choice. It is important at this stage that they learn the concept of goal setting and have some success in achieving their goals.
Not all students have set their own personal goal at this stage and it will be great for parents to support them at home with achieving their goals. You can ask them about their personal goal and how it is going.
We all have big goals in life and our biggest goal is to really love Krishna and all of his living entities but on the way we have many small goals to achieve. Srila Prabhupada explains that one who approaches Krishna for help in achieving their goals is a magnanimous soul.
In Maths this week we have completed a knowledge test so that I know what they need to learn next. The students have workbooks that they will use during lessons when they are not learning with me and I have given them access to a website called study ladder. Study ladder will be a useful online learning tool at least until we can set up the mathletics.
Students have been starting to think about their personal projects that they will complete this term. Once they have decided on a project we will learn the importance of resilience and seeing a project through to completion. We will also learn about learning to learn skills such as questioning, finding appropriate information and presentation.
The students thought about their own interests for learning as well as the concerns that they have about themselves and the world.
