This is an update on what is happening this term and what has already happened since last term.
Speeches this term:
As you will already be aware we are writing and preparing speeches. The children will present these in class on week 5 and we will then some children will present their speeches in the school speech competition. I will be sending out more details in week 4.
The Janmastami festival is currently providing us with lots of activities as well as poems, verses and songs to learn. After Janmastami our focus will be the value and practice of prayer. We will be studying some famous Vaisnava prayers and encouraging children to make prayer a regular part of their own personal lives.
This term our main focus is on multiplication and division strategies. Each week I am setting up new activities to be completed on mathletics and I ask parents to ensure they are completed by students. I have personally see how children who regularly complete their tasks are making steady progress.
We will also have a unit on Geometry this term and will learn about angles in shapes. As an extension of this we will be making a fire pit in the school field which will involve geometry and measurement.
Our integrated topic is being healthy servants of Krishna. We are currently learning about digestion and types of foods that the body needs to be healthy. We will also learn about the importance of exercise and why the body needs regular exercise. Children will then be guided in their personal inquiry project. Part of which will involve designing and making a healthy sweet.
