This news letter is an information update on what happened at school today.
At 9am we received an e-mail from an unidentified source that said they had planted a bomb in our school. The school was immediately evacuated and the children walked with staff to the bottom of our farm property where the bus picked us up and took us to the local Riverhead school.
The e-mail was a hoax that was sent to 4 local schools this morning. We took the highest precaution by taking the children to a local school and the ministry of education has praised our actions of safety. I met with the ministry of education today and the police and we have been assured that we are completely safe to have a normal day at school tomorrow and there is no real threat. The police and special services did inspect the school to ensure that it was in fact safe.
This afternoon I did explain to all of the children what had happened. the ministry of education was present with me at that time and gave me good advice on what to say to the children. The children did not know at the time why we were leaving the school as we do not want to put unnecessary fear into the children in these circumstances. It is possible that a child may feel nervous or afraid and if that is the case for your child please do inform me.
The staff reacted extremely well today and I want to praise all of them and the children also behaved extremely well.
I hope you have a nice evening and I look forward to seeing everyone at school for a very normal day tomorrow.
